It took me a while to pin down exactly when I travelled alone. That was so many years ago. My last solo vacation was sometime in 2007, some 8 years ago. The young gal who braved Tokyo, Shanghai and US on her own is now traveling alone once again, to Hong Kong, with much apprehension. For I have been so spoiled and so well taken care of by all the lovely folks that I travelled with these past few years that I am not sure if I would be as vigilant as I used to be.
Partly because I am on my own and partly because of other extraneous factors, I arrived at the airport 3 hours ahead of departure time. And here I am, checked-in, supper consumed and some 1.5 hours away from boarding. Unlike traveling with friends, where time always seem to fly by, time trickles when one is alone. Thankfully I am well prepared for this, armed with a book to read, after I am done with this post.
Frankly, I am not quite sure what to expect for this flight for I have not travelled by Cathay Pacific for close to 10 years. I have no idea if the economy class seats would be crammed, if the food is edible, if the service crew would be attentive… I have many questions and only one hope – to be able to sleep well on this close to 4 hours of flying, because that is all the time I have to sleep tonight! >_<
The flight experience was generally pleasant other than having to bear with the passenger sitting me constantly hitting on my seat, which led me to conclude I must be really tired to sleep through most of the flight. The seat was spacious enough and the snack packed provided looked fresh and safe to eat. If there is anything that could be improved, it would be the quality of inflight service. The crew was in a hurry most of the time and almost literally threw the food on my tray table in their haste to move on. And because they were in a hurry, they missed out on giving me and the passengers nearby our drink. Overall, I would say the flight is really not too bad ~ 😊
